2003 Washington Quarter (P) Missouri 1821 Edition
This Washington Quarter was only made in 2003
The Washington Quarter on the front side has the face of the first president of the united state George Washington (Aka the man the lead just threw the American Revolution and kicked the British out). The first Washington quarters were made of silver and would remain like that until 1964 when the coinage act of 1964 pretty much ended all silver coin production. Nowadays quarters are made of a copper nickel metal, however this coin was made for two reasons, the first is that in the people in the boat on the back are Lewis and Clark and presumably Sacagawea returning to St. louis going down the Missouri river Infront of a Jefferson memorial and the other is that in 1821 Missouri joined the union, meaning the state of Missouri joined the united states of America and yes that was a thing believe it or you know google it =)
DEFECTS
On the front of the coin the edge is thicker to the left bottom part of the coin and thinner to the right top part of the coin and it’s the same thing on the back. just the complete opposite.
. More importantly on the front side of the coin, every letter to so extent has a lot or bit extra metal when the coin was being made, and it can vary from letter to letter.
